We're Boilin', Grillin' and Fryin': Three of the Many Ways to Prepare Georgia Shrimp

August 27, 2015 by Callie Wamsley

Benjamin Buford Blue, aka "Bubba," said it best to Forrest Gump, "You can boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it...pan fried, deep fried..." And the list goes on.

What are we talking about? Shrimp. And lots of ways to prepare it. Today, we're sharing our top three favorite ways to prepare the "fruit of the sea."

  • Boiled Shrimp: One of the best parts about living in the low country is sharing a meal with friends and neighbors under the beautiful Georgia sky. This traditional recipe including corn, crab, potatoes and Old Bay is one of our all-time favorite ways to prepare shrimp, low country style.
  • Fried Shrimp: The list would not be complete without good, old fashioned fried shrimp. This kickin' recipe calls for your favorite hot sauce to spice your shrimp how you please. For those of you who prefer a milder taste, substitute hot sauce for your favorite flavored mustard.
  • Grilled Shrimp: This Mediterranean-inspired grilled shrimp recipe calls for just a few simple ingredients: chili sauce, cilantro, garlic, white wine and a few more basic cooking spices. Try it over pasta, rice or even a la carte. There's no wrong way to dish this dish.
