Tips on spring cleaning? Bring ‘em here, right? Anything to make this tedious task easier to handle.

First things first, make a list and prioritize which areas are most important to you. Families with small kids around, think about new ways to organize the playroom so that it’s less likely to get messy again. If you’re active in the kitchen, think about areas that you tend to forget and get them done this spring. Here are a few tips to help relieve and remind you of your spring cleaning duties.

Get rid of those carpet dents. If you have a playroom full of toys that are leaving dents in your carpet, try leaving ice cubes on the dents for a little while. Letting the ice cube slowly melt and then vacuuming the area will help lift the carpet fibers back up.

Give your vacuum the care it deserves. Speaking of vacuums, it’s probably one of our most used appliances. With that being said, we think it’s time to clean up the machine that’s been doing your best work. Remember to clean the dust cup and replace or wash the filters. Get rid of threads caught in the brush with a seam ripper.

The oven doesn’t have to be a scary place. Avoid using harsh chemicals that can leave strong fumes by using a little vinegar and baking soda! In a mixing bowl, mix a ½ cup of baking soda with a few tablespoons of water. Coat the interior of your oven with this paste, but make sure to avoid the heating elements. Let the paste sit for at least 12 hours or even overnight. After that’s all done, wipe down your oven, spray a little vinegar and wipe it down one more time. Wash your washer. Yes, you heard it right. Washers are capable of developing a funky odor if not taken care of properly. Before you start cleaning everything else, run your washer with distilled white vinegar and baking soda to get it started. It’s easy and requires very little of your time!

Empty out your refrigerator. This doesn’t mean that you have to eat everything inside, but… cleaning up can get a person hungry, right? Taking this time to clean all the crevices inside and outside your fridge will leave your kitchen looking like you just bought it again!
