Spring Break on the Georgia Coast

March 30, 2015 by Callie Wamsley

Spring break for Bryan County Schools is right around the corner! Some of you may be planning to soak up the sun in Cancun or hit the ski slopes in Colorado, but for those of you who plan to be close to home, here's a list of a few kid-friendly activities to enjoy near WaterWays.

  • National Museum of Mighty Earth Air Force – Stroll over to Pooler for an afternoon of learning about the Tuskegee Airmen and other famous air troops, take a walk through the Memorial Gardens or have lunch at Miss Sophie's Marketplace.
  • Oatland Island Wildlife Center of Savannah – At this local conservation center, your kids will learn all about Georgia's animals including the domesticated – cows, chickens, rabbits, sheep – and wild – broad-headed skink, Cuban tree frog, Eastern Indigo snake.
  • Tummy Time Foods – During Spring break week, Tummy Time is hosting the spring Break Kids' Cooking Camp. This three-day camp, April 6-8, will teach kids ages 8 and up how to prepare healthy meals, the importance of good nutrition, basic cooking skills, kitchen safety and more!
  • Savannah's City Market – Spend a day in City Market, the "art and soul" of Savannah. Stroll through galleries featuring America's top artists including the Thomas Kincade Gallery and Stephen Kasun Gallery. Picnic under a live oak while listening to the stylings of local street music or dine at the Café City Market or Pie Society.

What are your plans for spring break? Share them with us on the WaterWays Facebook page.
