Resident Spotlight: Meet The Cameron Family

April 11, 2013 by Callie Wamsley

If you've noticed a new family out biking along the trails or fishing in the Bill Dance Signature Lake, then it was probably The Camerons. Meet John and Dana and their children Caroline and Connor who've come all the way from Arlington, TX to build a new life at WaterWays Township. The family took time out of their busy schedules to share what life has been like at WaterWays Township:

When did you move to WaterWays Township?
March 15

Tell us a little about your family.
We are an active, outgoing family. We love to spend time outdoors whether it be on a bike, in a tent, on a boat, or on a trail. Our son, Connor age 12 is a First Class Boy Scout and plays percussion in the band. Caroline, age 7, plays soccer and wants to get into music. Dana volunteers at Coastal Community Church and Richmond Hill Elementary School. John is an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 400 Boy Scouts and loves to compete in Triathlon. Darla our Basset Hound is 5 and is in sensory overload out here. Duke, her brother, will be here soon. We love socializing so we look forward to getting involved at Waterways.....Let's have a BBQ!

What are some things you like to do as a family?
We love to camp, fish, bike, hike, travel, watch movies, and explore new places...like Waterways!

What attracted you to WaterWays Township? Why did you choose to buy here?
The peaceful and tranquil surroundings of the community sold us the moment we drove through the community. We leased a house in Richmond Hill in August so we could spend time looking around the area. We looked at many neighborhoods but could not find anything like Waterways. Once we chose a lot to build on, we could not wait to get here. We also love to fish and the Bill Dance Signature fishing habitat is outstanding. You really have to love the outdoors to be here.

The peacefulness and natural beauty of the outdoors has a calming effect on the soul that we really love. Being gated, we love the fact we can let our kids roam around without various people cruising through whom we don't know. Of course, the fishing is awesome. The people we have met have been wonderful and we can see ourselves building lasting friendships with our neighbors in Waterways.

What do you like about Richmond Hill and its surrounding areas?
Richmond Hill reminds Dana and me of the communities we grew up in. The city has the feel of an old-fashioned town. It is an active community and there is always something going on to help you get connected. The schools are important as well. Also, there is a strong military presence and you can't help but feel your most patriotic here. Seeing new friends welcome home their parents from serving overseas was very humbling. We are very grateful to those who serve our great country.
