A three-day weekend and the beginning of summer, we are all planning on relaxing and having a little fun this Memorial Day. A national holiday and ritual of remembrance for the men and women who have served our country, spending the afternoon enjoying the good company of loved ones is a great way to show your American pride from the food to the music and celebrations alike.

Enjoy this weekend with friends and family at one of the following events that will both entertain and honor:

  • Travel Back in Time at Ft. McAllister: Spend the afternoon at Fort McAllister State Historic Park and experience a day in the life of a common confederate soldier. Local historians will touch on different aspects of the soldier's life. A musket & cannon firing demonstration will take place 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. http://www.gastateparks.org/FortMcAllister
