Memorial Day - An American Tradition

May 23, 2014 by Callie Wamsley

Memorial Day weekend is a remarkable American holiday that brings friends and family together to enjoy some of our country's favorite pastimes. Grills sizzle with tasty American eats, the beaches are filled with people relaxing and enjoying the salty air while the sun glistens on a warm spring day. This long weekend serves as a friendly reminder that summer is just around the corner!

While this great American holiday is an opportunity for many of us to enjoy time away from work and appreciate the simple things in life, we must not forget the real reason that we celebrate Memorial Day. Every year, the final Monday of May, we pause to remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. They are the reason that America is the land of the free and the home of the brave. So, this weekend, remember the heroic soldiers who dedicated their lives to our great country and made it possible for you to enjoy your time with your loved ones.

Any special heroes in your life? Leave us a comment and let us know as we honor them together at WaterWays Township!
