Labor Day Fun Around the Hill

Labor Day is a time to bid sweet summertime farewell and welcome fall with a long weekend. From picnics and parades, to poolside barbecues and beach trips, people everywhere take time to relax and enjoy the fruits of their labor with a day off. Enjoy this Labor Day with family and friends as this long weekend is the perfect opportunity to plan an outing that the entire family can enjoy.

Spend the Day at the Labor Day Beach Bash on Tybee Island

So, whether you plan to travel to Savannah or to hang out around the Hill, there are plenty of events and activities to choose from to celebrate your Labor Day weekend.

History and Fun at Fort McAllister: Kick- off Labor Day weekend at Fort McAllister State Park. This Saturday, September 1st, the park will host the Fort McAllister Labor Day Festival from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Come out and enjoy all the festival has to offer including historical demonstrations, entertainment, food, games and more! The cost is $6.50 for adults; $6 for seniors; $3.75 for active military, veterans and youth; kids five and under are free.

Celebrate in Style on River Street: Celebrate Labor Day on Savannah's historic River Street. This Saturday, September 1st at 9:00 a.m., you and your family can have some laid-back fun on River Street. There will be arts and crafts, live entertainment and fun for the entire family. Be a Beach Bum: Grab your sunscreen, floats and beach chairs and head to nearby Tybee Island. Spend the day at the beach and enjoy the ocean breezes, live music and fireworks from the majestic Tybee Pier & Pavilion. This Sunday from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m., the Fifth Annual Tybee Island Labor Day Beach Bash will feature free live entertainment by the Swingin' Medallions and a fireworks show that can be seen from the pier, the beach or anywhere on Tybee Island after dark (around 9:15 p.m.). This popular annual event is free and open to the public.

Enjoy the Fruits of Your Labor:Â Relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor this Sunday, September 2nd at the Labor Day Family Picnic at J.F. Gregory Park. From 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., celebrate Georgia's working heroes and learn about "Made in Georgia" goods and services at the Labor Day family picnic. Admission is free. There will be a dessert bake off with cash prizes for the top three entries.
