What you’ll need

  • 1 navel orange, thinly sliced or cut into small wedges
  • 1 medium lemon, thinly sliced or cut into small wedges
  • 48 ounces cranberry juice
  • 3 cups Port wine

*Makes about 9 cups of sangria

How to make it

  • Thread the fruit pieces onto skewers
  • Combine all ingredients in a large jug or bowl and refrigerate for at least 3 hours to chill and allow flavors to develop
  • Add ice to a pitcher and add sangria.
  • Serve the sangria in wine glasses.

Expert Tips

  • Replace two cups (16 ounces) of the cranberry juice with orange juice
  • Add a few cinnamon sticks to the sangria
  • Add a thinly sliced apple to the sangria

Port Punch

Pic 2-1.jpg

Made with Port, which is red wine that’s been fortified with Brandy, this punch tastes like a summer sangria.  Most sangrias (including the white variety) are mixed with some type of hard liquor, but by using port the extra booze is already included. That being said… sip this one cautiously!

What you’ll need

  • 1 bottle (750ml) Port
  • 1 apple, diced
  • 1 orange, segmented and chopped
  • 1 lime, juice only
  • Grapes (optional)
  • Orange juice
  • Gingerale

How to make it

  • Cut segments out of oranges. Peel and core the apples and dice into chunks.
  • Add fruit to a bowl with lime juice and port.
  • Let marinate for 1-2 hours or overnight.
  • Mix 2 parts of the port mixture with 1 part OJ and ginger ale in a tall glass with ice.

To make just one drink, you can use this recipe:

  • 2 parts port mixture
  • 1 part OJ
  • 1 part ginger ale
  • Add diced apples
