Brighten Your Home With a Pop of Color

April 19, 2013 by Callie Wamsley

Just as spring flowers bloom, brighten and add cheer to outdoor spaces, it is important to refresh and brighten your home with a pop of color. Adding color to your home is an easy way to update for the season and give your décor a refreshing boost.

Whether you are planning to revitalize  your front porch, kitchen or living spaces, we have gathered some tips for how to add color to your home from HGTV that are sure to help!

A Porch Pick-Me Up: In the south, porches and patios are a great place for entertaining and add unmatchable curb appeal to your home. Add some color with potted and hanging plants, brightly colored accent furniture, a new hue for the front door or painted house numbers are also a nice touch. Tim & Dave's Nursery in Richmond Hill has a great selection of new annuals and perennials available now.

The Bright Buy for the Kitchen: Swap out your kitchen basics for some of these bright buys that are the perfect splash of color in any kitchen! New acrylic glasses in fun colors are both pretty and indestructible, display them in a glass case cabinet to add an unexpected pop of color. New oven mitts, measuring spoons or wire baskets filled with fresh fruit are also great ideas for the kitchen. This crab dish platter from Ella's would not only look great displayed in the kitchen but would also be something fun to serve guests with!

Accent Living Spaces: Whether you are game to go big or small there are several easy and inexpensive ways to add color to your home. A new area rug, drapes or throw pillows, a colorful lamp and vases with fresh flowers are all great color accents to a room. If you want to add a major splash, consider painting a bright focal point wall or purchasing a new piece of furniture in your favorite color! Check out these fun pillows from Laurel Home Furnishings.

During spring, it is all about color, from our homes to our wardrobes we add vibrant hues, to everything this time of year. How do you get your home ready for spring?
