Saturday, April 29th was an exciting day for the WaterWays Township community as local and traveling fishermen alike came together for the 3rd Annual Matt Knight Fishing Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society.
WaterWays Township was the official host of the event, granting anglers access to its exclusive Bill Dance Signature Fishing Lagoon. Over 90 anglers competed for the titles of first, second and third place in both adult and youth divisions. The day was full of fishing, food, inflatables, meet and greet opportunities with world champion bass fisherman, Ron Champion, and a silent auction with many items generously donated from local community members and corporate sponsors.
The tournament, hosted in honor of WaterWays Township resident, Matt Knight, who is battling stage 4 colon cancer, generated $6,000 that was donated directly to the American Cancer Society. The check was proudly presented to the ACS by Matt and Millie Knight, Ron Champion, and WaterWays Township staff members, Vance Askew and Brittany Snavely.
WaterWays Township would like to thank it's title sponsors; Keller Enterprises, Henderson Law Firm, Preferred Site Construction, Dream Finders Homes, Prosser Hallock Planners, Brian Barrett, Realtor, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia and Ports America.
